VOWS
This will not be long.
A vow is a vow. A vow is not a small thing in the eyes of God. A vow before people is to be taken seriously. A vow uttered before God makes the utterance of utmost importance. In my simple mind, the meaning of a "vow" needs no explanation. A vow is a vow.
To break a vow of marriage is to say that God is not able to fix the problem. The real problem is that little by little, in a slow decline, generally speaking, the Christian world has come to the place where we don't know Him. There is a surface knowledge. A deep closeness to Him is a thing of the past. We don't understand that not only can He fix the problem but that He absolutely does not want marriages to split up. (I'm not talking about infidelity here.)
Wives, husbands, do not have a clue about hours on the knees crying out to God, not that He will save a marriage, but that His name will not be hurt by the breakup of a Christian family, crying out to God that somehow glory will be given to Him because of the success of victory.
Wives, husbands, either do not really know or do not really care about the example of Jesus, coming from His glorious kingdom--which we cannot fathom--and becoming a servant...washing the feet of the disciples, going to the cross.
I say, whatever it takes, you do. Whatever. You give up your rights. You have no rights. You have responsibilities to love God with your whole heart and therefore, you say, "Yes, Sir." We need to turn this thing around. If I am as grieved about the hardness of heart and flagrant and nonchalant disregard for sticking it out, then God must be a thousand times more.
My mother prayed for my dad more than two hours a day, on her knees, crying out to God for an answer. God answered. She went to God and NEVER another person. If you go to five different people, they'll all tell you something a shade different. Not God. There is no shadow of turning with Him. He seeks for people who will have enough guts to depend on the One they cannot see to give them the right answers.
Anyone can do a split. It takes a valiant, believing child of God to keep the vow, and add one to it: I vow to keep working and praying until victory!
I know.
