The Journey and the Journal

HOME.

There was many-a time that I rounded the corner onto our gravel road, Novean Parkway, and saw Ken's purple truck parked in the driveway...home before me. It wasn't unusual for him to get home before me since he left at 5:30 every morning.

And now he has done it again! Very certainly, he has made it home just a little before me.

We...Ken and I...sang in a choir workshop once long ago, and one of the songs the choir tackled ...well, the chorus of one of the songs...was printed indelibly upon my heart. The song was new then. I've thought about it in terms of how Ken slipped away...falling asleep on this earth and waking up in glory...and finding it HOME.

It won't be long now...I am more convinced than ever...until the rest of the trusters of Jesus Christ are home. So sobering. So awesome. So wonderful. A crown, a crown for those who love His appearing! One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase...so bravely run the race, 'til we see Christ.

Here are the words of the song.

FINALLY HOME
When engulfed by the terror of the tempestuous seas,
Unknown waves before you roll,
At the end of doubt and peril is eternity
Though fear and conflict seize your soul.

When surrounded by the blackness of the darkest night
O how lonely death can be!
At the end of this long tunnel is a shining light
For death is swallowed up in victory!

But just think of stepping on shore...
And finding it heaven,

Of touching a hand and finding it God's
Of breathing new air, and finding it celestial,
Of waking up in glory -- and finding it Home.

For better, for worse. For richer, for poorer.
In sickness and in health.
Oh, so grateful for you! I'm glad you're home safe.
